Anjalika Khanna Roy
(She/her) MA Counselling Psychology
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
I am committed to empowering individuals to build on their skills to address life’s challenges, by working on unhelpful thinking and behaviours through an action-oriented approach. My work is rooted in a culturally informed framework that takes into account the social, cultural, and systemic factors that influence our experiences. In my practice, I draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), taking a strengths-based and collaborative approach.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) licensed with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Ottawa, and an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Queen’s University. I have experience working with diverse groups of young adults from various social and cultural backgrounds. I am also involved in research on a variety of commonly experienced mental health related issues. My current research examines the ways in which people respond to difficult emotions – i.e., effective ways to regulate emotions and what helps and what does not help. My previous research projects include how young adults manage daily anxiety, how social rejection and isolation contribute to depression and further social difficulties, and the mental health impacts of racism and racial trauma.
