Nicky Deeb (She/They)
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), MA Candidate
Therapist in Training

As a neurodivergent student therapist, I look forward to working with teens and adults navigating the harmful impact of dominant societal norms. Topics we might explore include depression, anxiety, grief, and death. I see each client as the expert of their own experiences.

The stories we tell ourselves --about what is good, bad, normal, right, wrong-- weigh heavily on how we see ourselves and the world around us. When we tell these stories in a way that personalizes our problems as being within ourselves it can bring feelings of hurt and shame. Together we may examine the stories we have been told and that are dominant in the community around us to see if the issues are individual or outside of ourselves. I hope we can together unpack our assumptions and problems in the context of structural inequities including heteronormativity, white supremacy, and patriarchy. We could then work on reimagining and authoring your own stories in a way that highlights dignity rather than shame.

With affirming care, I borrow from Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, CBT, Art Therapy, Religion, and Queer Theory to find the best fit for each client. Based on a transformative justice lens, I believe in critiquing individualism and focusing on grief work by leaning into the impact of loss on feelings of belonging, acceptance, and community.
