Zoë von Nostitz-Tait
(she/her), MA, MACP Candidate, RP
Registered Psychotherapist
I work with children, teens, and adults who are navigating such challenges as anxiety, low mood, self-doubt, big life changes, or a sense of disconnection - from themselves or from others.
Many of the people I work with are trying hard to cope, but still feel stuck. For kids and teens, this might show up as persistent worries, sleep challenges, emotional outbursts, or difficulty coping at school or with peers. For adults, it can look like feeling overwhelmed, self-critical, or unsure of how to move forward.
My role is to create a space where you -or your child- feel understood, supported, and gently challenged in ways that lead to meaningful change.
With children and teens, I work in a developmentally attuned and engaging way, often using elements of play and storytelling to help them express what’s going on beneath the surface. I also collaborate with parents when helpful, offering insight and guidance so that changes in therapy can carry into everyday life.
With adults, our work may centre on making sense of patterns that feel hard to shift, and finding new ways to relate to yourself and your experiences that actually create change.
My approach is person-centred, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and sex- and body-positive. I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based approaches, play therapy, and psychodynamic perspectives to support each client in a way that fits who they are.
I’m interested in understanding your past experiences and how they continue to shape your present and your sense of what’s possible. I listen closely and with care and ask questions that invite new ways of seeing yourself, your relationships, and your challenges. I offer ideas and resources to support growth and check in along the way so our work stays responsive to you. When these pieces come together, I believe change becomes possible.
Here are some examples of what change might look like:
-
A retired adult finds new strategies for dealing with difficult family dynamics.
-
A teen finds ways to work around feelings of low self-esteem to connect and make friends.
-
A nine-year old asserts herself at school and finds a way to sleep through the night.
If you’re considering therapy - for yourself or your child - I’d be happy to connect for a free consultation.
